This faith-based non-medical treatment program was established in 1987 by the late Pastor Michael Harris, Sr. to address the need for substance abuse treatment. Accredited by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS), SARA currently offers Intensive Outpatient counseling three (3) evenings per week.  Call to schedule an appointment.

As S.A.R.A-I.R.P became acutely aware of the high rate of HIV infection among substance abusers, a decision was made to incorporate HIV/AIDS education into the program.  March 2000, 4-CHARIS (Compassionate Hearts, Assisting, Instructing, Rebuilding, Serving), 821 Bank Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45214 - (513) 542-9730 was established by Mamie E. Harris, Program Director to address HIV testing and prevention education for those individuals who are profiled as being high-risk for contacting and transmitting the HIV/AIDS virus. The target populations served by 4-CHARIS are the homeless, transients, sex workers, African-Americans, Hispanics, women and incarcerated adults. Operating under the parent program S.A.R.A-I.R.P, 4-CHARIS has grown from being a community project to a faith-based organization certified by the Health Department of Ohio to provide HIV testing and prevention in the greater Cincinnati community.  Their connection to the local faith community enhances the opportunities for 4-CHARIS to reach a diverse population and open doors to other churches and faith organizations.
